Meet Conraad Spoon and Tjalling de Wit, our newest Technology Analysts at Venture IQ!

Please, introduce yourself…

Tjalling: I’m Tjalling, a technology analyst at Venture IQ. I live in Rotterdam and am currently studying Business Information Management at Rotterdam School of Management. I joined VIQ because I wanted to work in a dynamic environment where I could learn a lot—and that’s exactly what I found here. Outside of work, I like running, going to the gym, and spending time with friends and family. I also enjoy traveling when I can—it’s always nice to explore new places.

Conraad: I'm Conraad Spoon, 23 years old, born and raised in Rotterdam. After high school I moved to Delft to study Applied Mathematics at Delft University of Technology. This is taking a bit longer than expected... mostly because I also entered conservatoire after a year of studying. At the Royal Conservatoire The Hague, I'm following a programme which makes me able to continue studying in Delft and also follow lessons in classical piano, albeit at a lower intensity and difficulty than full conservatoire. Combining these two studies luckily still leaves time to work as a part time analyst for VentureIQ. I enjoy working here so it doesn't feel like an extra burden to me.

What do you do on a daily basis?

Tjalling: At Venture IQ, I work on identifying interesting companies and technologies for our clients. That means diving into different industries, exploring new markets, and figuring out which companies are really doing something innovative. I do this using our in-house platform, Catalist, which helps us structure and analyze large amounts of company data more efficiently. I enjoy combining research, data, and a bit of puzzle-solving to help clients get a clear view of what’s out there. No two projects are the same, which keeps things fresh and challenging.

Conraad: I find diversity from day to day at work lovely. I've seldom had two days in a row of doing the same task. I will admit, some tasks are easier and more fun that other. Still, I love the variety.

What do you love about your job?

Tjalling: One of my favourite things is how diverse the work is. I get to work on all kinds of different projects across various industries, which keeps things interesting and helps me learn a lot along the way. I also really like the collaborative atmosphere here. Everyone is sharp, driven, and kind. You don’t just learn from the projects, but from the team around you.

Conraad: What I like most about the job has to be the diversity. In first instance the subject matter. Every new project focuses on a different market, service or technology. I love diving deep into something and absorb as much as I can about it in a short time. Makes for interesting conversations at home as well.

How would you describe VIQ culture in words?

Conraad: I think "homey" would describe it quite well. The office feels that way as well: just the right amount of clutter that indicating the space is used a lot. Some objects alway changing place but never making it messy. The atmosphere feels familiar as well, with everyone being open-minded and interested.

Tjalling: Dynamic, innovative, and collaborative.
